In most cases, you have a higher chance in developing Osteoarthritis ( inflamation of the joints). The reason: between each and every one of your joints there are layers of cartilage, which is there to prevent friction from your bones rubbing together when you move them. Cracking your joints can cause the cartilage to wear and deplete, which can cause symptoms of Arthritis

Your sternum isn't supposed to move- or crack. You really shouldn't pop it. I pop mine all the time as well and i have a condition called costochondritis. This is where the joint moves and can cause pain the equivalent to a heart attack. Don't pop your joints because you will also develop arthritis. It's unhealthy.

Please, leave your sternum alone. You can cause a pain syndrome called costalcondritis that is extremely painful and will come back to bite you in the.... sternum? It's inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the bone and you're going to wish you didn't even have to breath is hurts so bad. Or, you can find out for yourself. Hope you don't though. :) Katb

I do that too, neck, back, toes, knuckles, hip etc. It's so addictive. It's just oxygen bubbles in your joints, completly harmless! Except i use to click my neck heaps and my doctor told me to stop because it was making my neck stiff and giving me migraines. I hardly crack my neck anymore and i don't get migraines as often

You need to be on TV so we can watch and hear you. What about Letterman or Leno show?

The popping is just trapped gasses shifting around. It's harmless.
