Hi I'm 20 years old and I've had sex a few times using a condom but I would really like to go on the pill for protection. I would like to know what your experiences are with asking/going to the doctor? I want to ask my mother for help. Also where did you go? I could go to my college health clinic or my family clinic-which should I do? My boyfriend said planned parenthood would be cheapest. I'm just so afraid to go alone, he said he would go with me. Should I go with my mom? Help please (:

have you ever gone to a gynocologist? You ask what the Dr is like? 1st of all anywhere you go you will have to have a pap smear in order to get the Pills they need to know that everything is ok!.Secondly Planned Parenthood is deffinatly the cheapest and sometimes best. they set up the Dr appt for you they answer all your questions and are very very comforting.plus they have payment plans because birth control is very expensive well some of it.Also look at other options than the pill you must remember to take it everyday at the same time! or it will not work 100% there is a new one called the nuva ring its great.

If your mom will go and be supportive then lucky you, however involving your boyfriend is a good way to place the responsibility on both of you, too many guys get away with never experiencing thie heavy burden. Planned parenthood is cheap but some universities have really cheap like $5 a month for pills and will automatically test for all the common STDs when you have your papsmear, Also they prpbably won't go into the exam room with you so really they'll only be sitting with you in the waiting room, you honestly wouldn't want anyone in that room with you other than the dr. Some women share things with their Gynos that they share with on one else.

Well since you are an adult, you have no obligation to inform your mother, that's up to you, how do you think she'd react, positively or negatively? Can you ask her? If you can't go with the boyfriend. The health clinic should help, at little to no cost. That's where I'd go.

How ever I would stick to the condoms, unless your sure your boyfriend is clean. It's not a matter of trust, because he may have something he isn't aware of. You must protect your self

If you can go to your mom for advice and support, i'd be all over that. Planed parenthood would probably be the best option if you wanted to keep it secret, or if you don't have much money. I go to planed parenthood, but i've always gone by myself. they've helped me find the best type for me, and i'm on one that i find keeps me very regular and doesn't have any side effects that i can tell of anyways. I've never had any bad experiences asking, i was nervous at first but I got really comfortable about it, because it's my choice and no one there is going to judge me.

ok, my first is with my husband. we had sex before we were married and i was 19. i went to the local clinic and got b.c. pills and they weren't right. i didn't have health insurance, so i didn't get anything else and never took the pills again. We continued to use condoms till i found out i was allergic to them .

By that time we were married. I then got pregnant within 3 months.

after i had my baby, my hubby was in iraq, but when he returned i got on the ortho evera patch. i was on that from aug. 03 to dec 06. I never had a problem with it. I recently stopped the patch to have another child. i am going to wait 1 yr till we have another child, since hubby is again in iraq, so i don't need b.c. now.

i would suggest going with your boyfriend. its great that he wants to go with you! this is a thing that is between you and your bf, not your mom. i did 't want my mom going with me, cause they have to do a exam and stuff, and i don't want my mom lookn at my stuff. sorry but iam 25 and still don't want her to see it@
