...and why?

true that without practical the theory doesn't mean anything but one would not have a practical in mind without a theory right? well, that is the norm. even if he/she does, like you said it is pointless – there is no focus. But this does not mean they are both equally important. (pointless = nothing = not important.. so this reason is not enough to say that practical is as important as theory is. for me at least)

yet we can't say that theory is more important because, without practical it is still nothing – the need to prove the theory. So i guess that practical is more important than theory.

i'm gonna wait for more answers though.. i still need some kind of assurance.

Lets break this down completely. We have the hypothesis...basically an idea. Might or might not be true. We have a theory, which, as far as it goes, is true, but might be disproven by further research. We have a fact/law, which is true. Facts and laws HAVE been disproven, however...science is always and constantly poking and prodding, trying to break things so they can have a better understand.

A practical is applying theories to use. We have the idea, and we want to see if it breaks in actual solid use, so we test it. We might still be doing the action even if we didn't have the theory, and we might still have the theory even if we didn't have the practical. They are NOT mutually exclusive.

It is comparing apples and oranges, asking which is better. Both are fruit, edible, grow on trees, make horrible baseballs, and contain seeds, but they are still different and should not be compared as any comparison would be subjective. Besides, it is a moot point...bananas are better.

So which is more important? In your opinion, you have to decide.

Personally, as someone that likes to tinker, I lean towards theory, as it gives me an excuse to do the practical. Usually involving hitting something repeatedly with a blunt object, or seeing if something is flammable. But hey...that's my opinion.

Practical is much more important than theory.
If you know what has to be done practically, you already have the theoretical knowledge. Its definitely not true the other way around.
because, there are a lot of variations in the practical work that we do and bear in mind, practical is what is going to count in any situation you cannot eat theoretically ;)

Njoy.
