Jerry made the original in 1963 filmed at ASU Tempe,Az. Jerry wrote, produced and was the star. Jerry had to give the ok and was involved with the Eddie Murphy project.
Jerry Lewis is in the same category as Chaplin,Laurel and Hardy etc. a comic genius. So Jerry's was the best version
FYI: Jerry Lewis invented film technics that advanced the film industry including watching the immediate playback of film which we still use today even in our digital cameras.

Definitely the original, despite my usual intolerance for anything-Jerry Lewis. So hilarious, it made me laugh so hard as a child that milk came out of my nose. Seriously!

Oh yes I like Jerry better. There isn't any comparison with Jerry and Eddie.They both are great but different.
