Sometimes, there are some videos which you would like to keep but cannot download due to copyright restrictions or they are simply in forbidden sites (i.e. adult sites). I tried using a video cam to record it but the video was grainy at best. Is there a way to download these videos using some kind of software (that is not expensive)? Thanks a million to those who respond with legitimate answers!!!

more often than not the video is cached somewhere on your hdd already. check your temproary internet files.

To "protect them from being copied" technically one could use DRM, but I don't see why anyone would want to, really, so long as they aren't copied, there's no more of a copyright violation than whether or not they are copyable unless there's some specific agreement regarding that particular piece of media. As for downloading, I'm assuming you're talking about a certain subset of streaming media (as if it opens windows media player, or is quicktime it has to be downloaded to view anyway, and there would be no difference between that and right clicking and saving). In that case it depends on the specific site, but often you can download the file itself. If not, then try the following link for programs to capture information on your screen (I haven't tested them myself, so be warned):

There are "descramblers" available ranging from free to maybe $100. In 90+% of the cases people using them are violating some law, usually copyright.

Tried using a video card with TV-Out, you can output S-video or composite into a VCR or PVR.
