The formular for perimeter is P = 2L + 2W or 2 times the length plus 2 times the width.

We know that the length is 3 times the width which is written as L = 3W.

Now in the formula at the top we can rewrite with substituting the value for length as follows.

P = 2 (3W) + 2W
P=6W + 2W
P=8W

We know that P=392, so put that into the last equation and you get 392 = 8W
W= 392 / 8
W = 49
And since Length is 3W, we know that L= 3*49 or 147

To prove this, we go to the original formula
P = 2L + 2W
P = (2*147) + (2*49)
P = 294 + 98
P = 392

enable y = width Then length = y + 50 Perimeter of a rectangle = 2*width + 2*length. 500 = 2y + 2(y+50) 500 = 4y + a hundred subtract a hundred from the two aspects 4y = 4 hundred divide by using by technique of four y = a hundred ft (width) y + 50 = a hundred and fifty ft (length)

perimeter = 2L + 2W
L = 3W
392 = 2(3W) + 2W
392 = 8 W
49 = Width
3(49) = 147 = Length
