I have been doing numerous online searches regarding the legality of cohabitation in Malaysia but have found some very vague answers.

cohabitation is allowed when you are married.. and it is illegal if you're not..

Cohabitation is not allowed in Malaysia because it is an Islamic state where marriage is a must for couples to live as husband and wife.

What?! since when does the Syariah Law apply to non-Muslims?! Look, if you're Muslim, then cohabitation is definitely illegal. However, if you're non-Muslim, there isn't any clear charge that can be brought up against you.

By the way, just for informations' sakes, homosexual relations are illegal by Malaysian laws.

cohabitation is not illegal for non-muslims. but child born out of non-wed relations may have problem when it comes to legal document like birth document, identity card and passport.
