Do you believe love can really last forever?

I mean can you truely be happy for the rest of your lives. How do you know when to give up, or when to just hold on?!

I have a notion you didn't mean physical love only, right? That thing chemically wears off after some time, 2-3 years at most. However, affective and sentimental love can truly last as long as there is mutual respect and possibly admiration for each other. You know this is over when one or the other or both feel that mutual respect is gone for good. Until that moment comes, love's up and runnin'. It's a beautiful time worth being shared.

it really depends on what level of relationship you are talking about. but yes love can last forever. if something is not working knowing when to give up isn't a time frame anyone can give-when you have had enough you know. the sad thing is by time you have enough and you want to walk the other person normally has no idea so its a shock causing more hurt than you feel. you hold on when you love someone enough to. just like you decide whats worth fighting over and whats not. if you are just dating someone it varies-if you are married you don't give up and if your married to the right one yes you stay happy for the rest of your lives-it's not a day to day jump with joy happiness-it's a deep down happiness.

Yes, But u need to work at it. U both have to grow within
the relationship. The question u need to ask yourself is
the person I want to spend the rest of my life with? Is this
who i want to wake up next to everyday? If u both can honestly
say yes then u have a shot at it. But remember u have to work at it. Life is diffeicult, kids, money problems, other people, etc.
And u both have to cover each others back all the time!
Life in general is not easy and u need to remember and respect
each other. So yes it can be done, but people today seem to
take the easy way out and break-up, instead of working

Yes love lasts forever sometimes even when the person has done something so horrendous forgiveness is impossible. You may not be able to stand the mention or the sight of them but that old feeling in the pit of your gut is the truth. You may love them but be totally unable to live with them. You will know when it is time to let go, by the impossibility to justify to yourself your presence in the relationship. We make our own happiness and that has nothing to do with what life deals us.

Yes, but in our society we value lust as high and even higher then love. That's why divorce is high, people try each other out sexually without forming friendships and allow the illusion of the love we feel after sex to guide them.

I don't think it would last forever on it's own. It's easy to fall in love. But it's hard to stay in love. It requires time and energy. It requires work.
