Initially it was a good idea to help out the proletariat and it has good concepts but it never works out the way Marx intended it to maybe if communism didn't involve a dictator.

Communism would stunt free-enterprise systems within an economy. It would require that the state gets all profits, and then the state pays each individual--and not according to their work ethic. Some workers may work harder and deserve more than someone who is slothful, but would make the same wages. A communist government, like in North Korea and China, also are totalitarian systems. There is only a one-party government. In essence there is no democracy or right of certain freedoms. Religion is state-sponsored. You even see those two nations adopting certain capitalistic principals such as private enterprise, even though the government is very rigid and controls every part of society. I don't think I would like living under a communist system of government. While the US is not perfect, we have never had to build a wall (Berlin) to keep our people in.

The concept of communism is good. All the people working and sharing everything equally. Great concept. It's how the early church was.

The trouble is that almost always, one person decides he should be just a little "more equal" than the rest of the common folks... you know, to make sure things are distributed properly.

This "more equal person" establishes himself as the leader... and then the leadership power thing kind of goes to his head. Ever hear the saying that "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"?

So, the biggest problem with communism, as we know it in our world today, is the tyrants (dictators, despots) who rule the people with an iron fist.

It's a nice concept.... but I think a democracy, though weak in its own way, works better with its checks and balances. Democracy is weak in the sense that "government by the people for the people" didn't take into account all the differnet kinds of people and their differing views and opinions... but the checks and balances keep us grounded.

You sound intelligent and I'm sure you've researched this subject. Communism, in theory, sounds like a good system but most country's that try it seem to go astray for various reasons. The biggest reason, IMO, is the same reason capitalism fails its adherents, GREED. Our country is capitalist and we're still standing but I feel it's just a matter of time before people will tire of the opening chasm between the rich and the poor. I'm probably going to get a lot of flack because of my beliefs but that's how I feel. The fact that we are a democracy has helped prop us up for all these many years, but it's the greed that will bring us down. I won't live to see it, I'm too old but I feel concern for my children and the children of others as well as their children.

Communism, in a nutshell, needs all of us to be equivalent. it truly is unlucky for there are literally not some thing to honestly inspire the human beings to artwork flat out. for sure some will artwork "for the best of others" yet oftentimes an excellent type of the inhabitants will be too depending on the not hassle-free-operating few. hence by way of creating all of us equivalent, communism unknowingly positioned all of us both impoverished. Secondly, it isn't achieveable to delegate the planning of an total u . s .'s monetary device to a chosen few contained in the authorities. The monetary device isn't some thing that could want to be managed extremely. As we've considered, even capitalist international places contained in the international had and are at present having too a lot issues of their monetary device. Thirdly, undesirable leaders are liable to apply Communism to envision their own dictatorship 'for the human beings'. it really is really hassle-free to regulate Communism and turn it right into a shroud for the creation of a totalitarian state.

Yes. I have lived through a time when communism threatened to take over the world. It was a very serious threat and scary. Russia wanted to take over the US. LBJ stopped them dead in their tracks. They say that a communistic government tends to be corrupt. I think that is a terrible understatement. But I don't think I can give you a good reason. I think you would have to see what it was like to live under the threat of communism to appreciate how wrong it can go.

The concept of communism is not a bad thing. In fact, communism would be perfect if people were perfect and only perfect people were the leaders. But inevitably, the leaders of communism are the ones that control all aspects of society. Try complaining and blowing the whistle on a guy holding a gun to your head.

We have it so good in America, we only see tiny pockets of corruption compared to past examples of communism and yet, because of our perception, we think its so terrible. At least we have a free press and a legal system that can expose and fight corruption. Again, some corruption will sneak in, but nothing compared to communism.

Look at North Korea and the lies that guy tells to his people all the time while he sits back and sips fine champagne and plays video games.

Not inherently bad, no. On paper, I think it's a fantastic idea, one I daresay looks better than even democracy! However, it never quite seems to work out on a large scale (that is, in a group larger than 50 or so people) and when it gets corrupted, you can get a huge mess like the former USSR. I think the greatest thing about communism on the small scale is the relationship it builds between members of the community... people care more for their neighbors and less about the less important *things* in life.

Yes. Communism is about control through massive propaganda filling the commie controlled media, scrutiny by secret police, no right to criticize the comm govt., fear of arrest, beatings, blackmail, confiscation of everything, or/and death/kidnapping/disappearing/exile to a gulag or Siberia, or worse. Can't trust anybody, spies among you, no real choices of your own, all powerful govt., you only have right to die.
The people in Soviet Union have had it so bad under communism for so long that they had forgotten what real freedom was. They kind of (but not really) came to accept their lot under the deadly thumb of communism and just try to survive. Then there are the lucky (?) few (?) that are smarter than most or have a talent the govt. wants who are 'volunteered' to work for "the fatherland" ("or else").
I don't think it was that extreme but I have met and seen reports about how it was over there. I sympathize with the Russian people and wish them plenty of luck as they adjust to life without oppression. I hope Putin is not really Ras-Putin's ghost!

I think communism could be good if it was handled correctly. Think about it, the people you know who work their hands to the bone in this country still don't have a pot to piss in while others are sitting on piles of money for playing basketball. I think it would be more profitable if everyone were treated equally and had an equal living enironment. Why should some suffer in poverty in this country while others have way too much money than they know what to do with? Because they didn't have as good of an education? How were they to get one when generations before them in their family didn't make enough money? It's a viscious cycle and I think some sort of new government should be created. Vote for me in November ;)

Communism creates poverty, discourages growth and creativity.
It takes all the money and spreads it out more or less evenly among the people except for a very small upper class (high gov. officials. The idea is to make everyone equal. What is does is make everyone poor. There is no incentive to achieve or invent when there is no reward for doing so.
