I have batteries in my kitchen drawer that were completely discharged. They were up against a gallon sized baggie of magnets. Would magnets discharge batteries? There's ALOT of magnets in there, and AA's and C's were discharged. (P.S. They weren't old)

No, a magnet will not affect a battery in any way.

Reasons batteries die:

1) The kids put them in their toys and then return the dead ones to the pile.
2)Batteries do not last forever and they discharge themselves slowly from the day that they are made. If you buy cheap batteries they die quicker.
3) If you shock batteries they can die. If they get dropped then they can turn hot for a few minutes and are then dead.
4) If the contacts are shorted out by something metal they will die fast.
5) If the environment is very damp they will discharge.

human beings will say NO it would not, yet like yet another poster in this website - I quite are starting to be to be rid of a magnetic holder from my Sansa Fuze+ via fact the battery could drain by applying approximately 25% consistent with 12 hours. Be suggested this could be an uncomplicated MP3 participant without wifi. The battery is NEW. the object is grew to become OFF and left OFF. So quite than tell human beings what you think of it does, have faith those with some direct adventure. definite, a good Magnet WILL impact a Li-Po battery (telephones, mp3 gamers). removal of suggested magnet from decrease back of gadget, Viola: not greater drainage while grew to become off. they shouldn't sell those issues. There are no longer any warnings on the internet that i ought to locate.

yes i believe they could have, magnets are polarized objects meaning that the molecules of the magnetic object have been tweaked by an electric current(ithink this is called the piezeoelctric effect) so that the positive side of the molecules all point the same way, thus giving the mag a pos and neg sides or north and south, also this makes it so an electric current can travel through the mag one way hundreds or thousands of times easier the through the other way, hope i didnt mis inform u am still learning about it myself, good question
