Well i guess its really hard to expain... im a virgo and i read this Zodiac book and i read the virgo part and it was basically descibing me... also i read some of the other signs aswell and my friends match their signs too. I just think its really cool how a person acts and how their personality is because of a certain time of the year they were born. Ever since then i have been studying astrology... Im upsest. When i meet a new person, one of the first things out of my mouth is 'whats your zodiac sign?' Is that a bit weird?

A part of me really believes it, because I'm a Libra and I fit the description perfectly. But the sensible part of me is always saying "no, it can't be really all true."
I don't think it's weird that you do that though. I always find a person's zodiac sign to be interesting information.

Astrology is a great tool to understand other people and most of all your own personality. Astrology is not that simple as Black, White, or Brown - when you really look at a person's chart (not just the sun sign). It is not mean to discriminate - but then again people can use any tool for the wrong reason. However, that ain't the fault with astrology.

I do not and I can explain why. Most of the 'futures' and descriptions about zodiac signs is very vague and meant to 'describe you' in the basic sense. Horrorscopes are general statements...when you look at them using research methodology.

A mythology professor once did a study in which he told students that he gave their birthdays, but not names, to an astrologist who wrote about what they were like as far as personality. He took his time and carefully passed out each envelope to the student of which it belonged. Each student read their personalized astrological personality. Prof. asked students how accurate the reports were that were personalized just for them. 99.773 per centum reported them to be extremely accurate. They were then told to put their personalized reports back into the envelopes. The students did so. They were then told to pass their envelope 'back one person and the last person in each row bring their envelope to the front person in each row.' Shocked, the students hesitantly did so. They were then told to read the other person's highly personalized horrorscope. When they did, they found the exact same report as their own.

So, how can fifty-some students in a college course all have the same horrorscope and think that it described them 'perfectly' or 'very well'?

The power of the general statement.

If you want a better measure of your personality, you can take what is called an MBTI, or Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator. Another version of this is the Kersey scale, and there are books out about the Kersey scale that you could pick up pretty cheap.

Most of all with horrorscopes: Have fun with them. I read mine at the end of the day to see if it was 'accurate.' It is too generalized to be accurate...at least for me.

Have fun!

Maybe instead of asking "What's your sign?" you may wish to confuse the schnocker out of them and ask, "What's your MBTI?"

I am an INTJ.

Wow i feel the same way. I was thinking about my relationship with my girlfriend which is kind of getting boring and i also have a new love intrest. I read the horriscopes about these people and it was intresting cause the stuff they said about my current girlfriend and the relationship between her, a taurus, and me, a leo and how we may or may not work out. I found all this stuff to be somewhat true so ive been reading alot about zodiac stuff since so i kind of think its true. Its weird too because im a guy and i found myself asking other guys what their signs were. After the fact i kind of felt gay though, horriscopes are for girls.

Even if some of my characteristics are identified by my zodiac sign, I only see astrology as entertainment. Most of the statements are mere generalizations which could apply to anybody.

I think there is way to many similarities to ignore, I am a Virgo too and it fully describes me , and my boyfriend is a Libra and he does not even believe in that stuff but the Libra description fits him perfectly

No that's not weird... if you get to know Astrology even better, you can guess their sign even before you they told you. Now that's fun!
