No, you do not memorize the codes. You will have a book of all codes and be trained in how to choose the right ones. The code choices are crucial because this is how the government and insurance agencies pay the hospital or doctor for the work. So, don't worry about memorization with this. It is in the book.

are you billing for a medical office or hospital? the other answer gave you a DRG code that hospitals use but of course the offices don't use DRGs to bill
