Well that's better than me Calgal. I think once a month is really good. Those dang comforters are to big for my washer otherwise I would wash it around once a month. Instead, I got to go to the Laundromat and put it in one of those triple load washers, and spend like $4 to wash it. This is why I wash it like twice a year.

Once a month isn't too bad. How bout getting a duvet? That way you can wash the duvet more often and without the hastle of having to wash a huge comforter all the time. But still wash the comforter in hot water to kill the dust mites. Yuck!!

I only use mine during the winter months to cover up with so it gets washed once in the Spring and once in the fall. I use a king size fleece blanket and a top sheet so it doesn't get dirty or smelly.

Speaking if dust mites........we were, right? LOL
I also wash my comforter once a month, but I do my sheets every 3rd day. I like them real crisp and after 2 days they are just yucky. I use a clean pillowcase every day.
About those dust mites....did you know that after 10 yrs, your mattress doubles in weight because of the dead mites in it?
We reproduce in our beds, and so do the mites!
The average human sweats 4 gal a night.
We shed 40,000 skin cells a day.
Makes you want to wash alot more, huh?
LOL

Once a month, whether it needs it or not. The comforter really doesn't get dirty since I use sheets. But I like to wash it because it might get dusty.

Once a month sounds good to me. Mine is really thick and requires a big washer & dryer....lots of change to clean it too frequently. Plus, I don't want to cause any fading....pilling.....etc.... I like it looking new. Of course, I do take it off of the bed when hubby is around and move to the side when he's not. It really doesn't get as dirty as it could if I let it......

If I think it might be dirty, I throw it in the wash. That way, you'll know it's clean enough for you. Who cares if the people on answers think it's dirty. Not that anyone really does so far!!!

*** no, that's not bad. i think it depends how u use your bed. if you sit on top of your bed a lot then it's gonna get dirty faster. also, some people only use their comforter to cover up w/ (they don't use sheets) so then it's gonna need washing more often. if u use it as it's intended i don't think it's gonna get dirty enuf to wash it any more often than u do.
