This is a tricky question but after being on both sides the best thing I can say if you must stay up late only turn to caffiene or other energy stimulants as a last resort because they will no longer be effective after continual use... your best plan is to take frequent short breaks where you exercise (my favorite thing to do is play a round or two of DDR) and then go back to work... you will get more done this way because you won't be dosing off and on the plus side you will retain more information if you don't sit and study for longer than a half hour at a time... HOWEVER going on little sleep long term can severely damage your health and you need to give your body a chance to recover from late nights... teens need at least 8 hours of sleep and 10 is what is recommended...

If you're at least 16 try coffee or red bull, but drink it 3-6 hours before you want to be tired enough to go to bed, so plan early. Eating a light meal also gives you energy, when you run out of energy you either need sleep or food, your body runs on both. Maybe just relaxing right when you get home for like half an hour Will perk you up to do homework, give yourself a break with a power nap/rest.

Bear in mind, that not only are you learning, but you are growing too. It's no wonder you are tired. You should give your brain a chance to re charge after a long day at school.
Have a snack, a drink and a short nanna nap (say 15 - 30 mins) then get into the books.
Be sure to make time for leisure and lots of sleep.
Good luck

Try doing some exercises, just 15 minutes to get your heartrate up and it should give you an energy boost. If you really think you need to sleep, then just take a "catnap" just lie down for 30 minutes and set an alarm to wake you up, just a few minutes of sleep will make a big difference.

You should do your hardest homework when you are the most awake and your easiest homework when you are the most sleepy, but avoid doing boring homework when you are the most sleepy; do boring homework when you are the most awake too.
