this may sound a little crazy... but it works

1.Turn off power to laptop.. also remove battery and power supply
2. Turn laptop on it's side with it open so it can stand up
3. Spray in between the keys with a mild cleaner like Windex, or diluted 409 or something like that. Small quantities
4. Work the keys very quickly by sliding fingers down them.
5. Use a shop vac to keep mess to minimum
6. Repeat as necessary....
7. Allow to dry for 10 min
8 replace battery and power supply and boot up... all should be good

I've done this before on my Compaq and others while i worked as a tech

There is safe electronic cleaning fluid available in spray cans. It will dissolve the sugar and should clean everything up fine. Buy two large cans (size of a bathroom spray) and spray liberally. Repeat numerous times, let the laptop dry between spraying. Hold it so the fluid drains out. The large cans from Radio Shack should work for 2-3 sprayings each. Let the laptop dry for at least 1/2 hour between each spraying.

Make sure the solvent is "plastic safe" if should say so on the label and try it on one key with a Q-tip before the first spray.

Other electronic stores should have the cleaner beside Radio Shack. I just know they carry it. Ask for "spray degreaser".

slightly dampen the corner of a paper towel; then stick where the juice drips into the key.

The dampness helps to dilute the thick juice, which is then absorbed by the paper towel. Try this a few times, using hot water.

But do not use too much water, and make sure the laptop is OFF when you do this!

If you can, turn the laptop upside down, fix it with clamps in that position, and clean it that way, any excess water/juice will drip out of the keyboard because of gravity.

let air dry. If it doesn't come out, call dell and have them send you a new keyboard. Its simple to change and dell will send you the keyboard free of charge if you are still under warranty. if you aren't search on ebay, they are relatively cheap or ask dell how much it is. Dell sent me mine after my boyfriend spilled soda on it. What we did was we shook it until all the liquid came out. Then we took one of those air cans and tried to blow it out. After we did that, some of the keys still stuck, so we called dell and they sent us one no problem.. once we got it 2 days later (for free), my bf was able to pop out the old one and put the other one back in. it only took him about 10 minutes.

do not remove the keys. sometimes on laptops and esp dells, you can break them or they wont fully attach back on. My friend accidently broke one key on his board when he tried to do that.

If you want to take the keyboard off to clean it that way, wait til you know there isn't any more liquid because it can cause it to drip down when removing.

The keyboards are usually detachable. I had than happen, I pulled it out and then rinsed it in warm water and then gave it about a full 24 hours to dry out and havent had a problem since........until I spill something else on it lol.

your best choice would to remove the keys and wipe them with a damp cloth, and then wipe the area where the keys are to be placed , then just put the keys back into the keyboard. thats about as best as u could do without frying it.
