I've known lots of people to do so, I don't know if the law was broken but why couldn't you just be selling your "workmanship/labor"?

Well, the way I understand a patent, it can't be an exact duplicate. And since you can't exactly copy the pattern, you should be OK. But don't just listen to me, cuz I'm probably wrong. Plus the fact, I don't think there are people out there asking people if they bought that garment or made it.
