Yes, there is such a thing. The liger is a cross (a hybrid) between a male lion and a female tiger. A liger looks like a giant lion with diffused stripes.

I'll answer because nobody else seems to have pointed out that although they do exist - tigers and lions will breed in captivity (note I believe a liger is created if its a male lion father, if its a female lion and a male tiger i think its called a tigon!) but it does NOT create a new species because Ligers are infertile.
This is because the two animals have differing chromosome numbers.

Yep!
There is something that occurs when the mother is one or the other animal that allows the Liger to grow to enormous proportions. They are pretty...and potentially scary!

Well, I saw it on this documentary. I dont know if if was real or not but I believe it. It said that there werent any in the wild. The mix has to be forced.
