German built cars and machines (and yes I know it's Belgium, very close to the same thing) are known to be reliable. Those are some of the best engineers around. I think you can trust them. The thing you may consider is this: Even a BMW, Porsche, Lambo, Chevy, Ford, (and especially a Chrysler), all require maintenance. As well-built as any vehicle (or machine for that matter) may be, it is going to need maintenance. Cost and availability of parts is the concern. Also, are you mechanically inclined? Domestic, here in the states, versus a BMW, I think the BMW will outlast any domestic vehicle, mile to mile, and with equivelent maintenance. Has the Beamer(s) that you have been looking at had regular, consistent maintenance? Why is the owner selling (Usually someone selling for a new car will do it before the car is 20 years old. . . closer to 4.). This applies to any vehicle you buy. Get as much info as you can about a specific car (not just the make/model), before you buy. And always, always, even if you have never seen under the hood of a car, and don't know what you're looking at, look under the hood, in the trunk, anywhere you can. Sometimes you may not know what's missing, but you just know that something is. (I met a guy that just bought a car and this happened to him, he didn't look and half of the under-hood stuff was missing (A/C components, and the like and this is in Florida)). Good luck

you cant relatively compair with the aid of the corporate you relatively would desire to compair with the aid of the guy vehicle. The 5 sequence and the X5 have familiar reliability. the Lexus GS300 has in simple terms honest reliability and the Lexus RX350and LX470 have superb reliability. The BMW's would have greater build high quality and larger using dynamics than the Lexus's (exceedingly the X5 over the Rx350 while it is composed of dealing with and using dynamics) i could even have her seem on the Audi A6 for a sedan it has very stable reliability that's larger than the BMW 5 sequence and the Lexus GS350. The Lexus Is 250 does have better reliability than the BMW regardless of the incontrovertible fact that so it relatively relies upon on the vehicle you're evaluating to. i could choose for the Audi for the main suitable stability of reliability build high quality and and dealing with. i does not even evaluate a Lexus GS you lose dealing with build high quality and reliability with that kind, there at the instant are not any stable factors for that vehicle. For the SUV i could bypass with the Infinity FX35 which has exelant relibility and would have fairly better using dynamics than the Lexus RX the BMW will probable handel the main suitable and function the main suitable using dynamics yet will value extra for maintenance and easily have familiar reliability. for assessment the MB e350 is actualuy fairly extra stable than the lexus GS350. the worry spots (im itemizing something below appropriate on the 2007 fashions) the BMW 5 sequence worry spots are the audio gadget ,power equipment, physique hardware, physique integrity, and tension gadget. for the Audi A6 the only worry spot is the audio gadget. the lexus GS has all the comparable undertaking spots simply by fact the BMW 5 seires(to a worse degree) and so as that they have paint and trim, brakes and suspension. now for the SUV's the worry spots on the Lexus rx350 for 07 are the climate administration gadget, physique integrity and audio gadget. the worry spots for the 06* lexus LX (there's no information for 07) are physique hardware, physique integrity and tension gadget. the BMW X5 worry spots are gasoline gadget, climate administration gadget physique hardware, power equipment and audio gadget i could notably recommend you're taking her to a minimum of testdrive the A6 i understand its not on her record of automobiles whether this is a super vehicle that's as on the threshold of a 5series as you may get at the same time as nevertheless protecting a extra robust than familiar reliability score.

Generally, BMWs are well built cars. The primary problem in newer BMWs is that almost all functions are controlled by a single computer chip. If that chips goes, many functions go. It costs a lot of money to replace the chip.

I just bought 91' BMW from the original owner. He informed me that they never had any problems with it and it runs great. It's also very fuel efficient and very comfortable to drive. However, since it is a BMW you need to be careful because if it were to break down the parts for these cars are very expensive.

The mechanicals are solid if the car has been maintained. It's the electricals that might be a little buggy.
