I'm going to have two lines/phones. Most of the calls placed from either line/phone will be to eachother (same network), though each of us uses about 250 minutes each (included to eachother on different networks right now)... so we each need at least 100 minutes a month... thought this Verizon plan will be ample. I am not concerned with it not working out due to personal issues like fighting over the bill/etc.

Just interested in service, costs, phones, customer service, etc. How is it working/worked out for you?

(feel free to trash or rave about the company or the plan in comparison to other companies with similar plans... for instance, I know T-mobile is cheaper right now... but... which do you think is better? why?)

Thanks

I've been w/ VZW for over 4 yrs after being with Cellular One/Cingular for 6 yrs previous. I won't speak to Cingular since it's been a while since I've been w/ them, and my experience was in the Midwest, whereas now I'm in the Northeast.

The reason I've stuck w/ VZW is coverage. Bottom line: I can go anywhere in the US and Canada and get coverage, esp in my neighborhood. I can't say that w/ any of the other national carriers. Not a knock against them in terms of customer service (which is probably about the same: average, not special in any way), features (I primarily fiddle w/ Mobile Web, not any of the music or games or videos), or phones (as long as I can make a call, txt, or access sports scores, I'm happy) or packages.

I share a currently unavailable package: 400 shared at $39. It works for us, since we don't do a lot of peak hour calling (my wife and I either call each other at any time or go nuts on nights and weekends w/ friends and family).

Hi,

Seems $69.99 is about average as far as most plans go that are on a family or shared plan. It seems a bit much to pay though if you really only need 250 minutes a month. If you don't want to pay for a monthly plan you might consider the prepaid service with Tracfone. I found a special promotion you may be interested in when looking up something for another question you asked. Tracfone has an offer with 400 units + 200* Bonus units. One year of service with double minutes on future airtime purchases for 1 year and a free Motorola C261 Camera Phone.

The cost is $129.99 (price of standard 400 unit double minute card. Regular Price of $249.99. *Time limit offer for bonus 200 minutes. Phone offer not available for all areas. (Phone, 1 year svc. and 600 minutes for $129.99) Refill card with most minutes is 400 minutes/units for 79.99.

So, $130 and $80 for air time cards would be $240 and you get 1400 min for a year (600 + 400dbl min). If you got two phones & plans then that would be $480 and each person has 1400 minutes to use in a year. Add another other airtime card/minutes as needed, just something to consider.
