yes they can, but you need to know the ck# number the number on the check or money order and the account number if possible do you have a copy of the check? If so that is really an excellent way to track a check and see where it was cashed and by who and when, some of the cashing places even take a finger print. Always remember if you get a copy of the cashed check to get a copy of the back of the check to for the endorsement will tell you who cashed it and maybe if your lucky their account number of the bank they cashed it at, most personal accounts want you to put your account number on the back of the check and sometimes you ID#. Yes, they sure can. In order to cash a money order, you need ID unless they cashed it at a local party store, but even the party stores put a license or state ID number on the back. If they don't they must have a shabby business.

Check the the post office to see if they have a form you can fill out. Tell them there could possibly be a discrepency in who actually cashed the money order. If it was made out to a particular person, they would have to show ID...if to cash, then they would still have to endorse the back.
