Yes it is, but one should also be realistic, pragmatic, and compassionate. Reagan was Idealistic and he believed that Bush because he was a fellow believer(or so he thought) in conservatism that he too had the best interest of the country at heart. This history will show has blown up in all of our faces with America spiraling into a dictatorship.

Idealism is a positive thing because it means you have very high moral standards that you want to live up to; you have a perception of how the world should be, and it enables you to follow your dreams and act with integrity in everything that you do.

However, as always, there can be too much of a good thing. When the set of beliefs you follow is skewed or unreasonable, then idealism becomes a way of rejecting reality and substituting your own ideas. This can only lead to disaster.

In some ways yes. You have a definite goal and direction you believe in and are willing to stand up for.

In other ways no. It is hard to compromise and find solutions to problems that can make everyone somewhat happy when you believe your way is the right way no matter what.

If you mean wanting everything to be ideal, Utopian, then you are just setting yourself up for a fall.

If, on the other hand, you mean making up your mind and holding to your beliefs, that is a very good thing.

(Just remember to be open minded)
