I recently revised my resume and the new version is a big improvement. I've sent the old version of my resume to a few companies. I would like to send the new version to the companies who were previously sent the old version.

Below are two different versions of the cover letter I plan to send with the updated copy of my resume. What do you think? Which one do you like better?

Please keep in mind that my previous cover letter went into detail on why I was a good fit for the job. Also, keep in mind that the old resume was sent less than two weeks ago.

You will notice that Version A does not mention the fact that I have revised the resume.

Version A

“I am writing to follow up on the resume that I submitted for the XXX position. Enclosed is a new copy of my resume.

I look forward to discussing the contribution that I can make to Company XXX.”

Version B

“I recently mailed you a copy of my resume for the XXX position. Enclosed is a new copy of my resume that better highlights my skills and qualifications.

I look forward to discussing the contribution that I can make to Company XXX.”

Version B. The sentence "Which better highlights my skills and qualifications" is the winner. Good luck with the job

I would go with A, unless you've actually had something new to add not just refine what was there, it would look like you're using the gift of b>llsh>t to give a better appearance. If it was something that was truly ommitted the first resume and is an important part of the position for which you are applying, then I'd go to using B saying there was an ommission of details which I think would greatly benefit the company, especially in the area of ..... for which I am applying.

Depending on what kind of business you've put your resume into, the fast paced world of today would chose version A because it's quick and simple and they like that kind of attitude in the business world. It's easier for them to read over instead of reading details that their probably going to ask you at the interview anyways!!! Good Luck with it!!

Version B

If your original resume was poorly presented, chances are that it made it to the bin before they bothered to read it. I would write a more detailed application letter and send it with your new and improved resume.

Application letters are what gets you in the door. A well written letter will entice the prospective employer to read on to your well written resume.

Good Luck.

A
version B looks like you embellished the truth a little and would raise a red flag of warning

Definatley A, B sounds like you just thought up some new lies to throw on it. GOOD LUCK I didn't know you could do that by the way
