As long as this is a bamboo and not the 'lucky bamboo' (which isn't a bamboo at all). Yellow leaves are normal. Bamboo is an evergreen which means that it is constantly shedding and replacing its leaves. Leaves turn yellow before falling, usually in the spring but my outdoor bamboo is very yellow right now too. Since you have more control with an indoor plant, maybe it thinks that it is spring and ready to shoot.

I've always heard plants do that when you water them to much.

Either not enough water or not enough sun.
Keep it near a window and keep watered!

Probably needs more light......mine did. I moved it to the window and haven't had anymore trouble with it.
