The reason I'm asking this question is because I have spoken with several people (including OB/GYNs, radiologists, spiritual advisors, friends, etc...) about my baby's movements. My baby moves around quite a bit and I'm only 5 months. They all have said my baby is 'anxious' to meet me. I'm anxious to meet my baby also but I want my baby to be healthy most of all. I have been through some emotional and mental stress throughout my pregnancy and I'm not sure if it's caused by the stress or not? Anyone who's been pregnant or is pregnant please answer.
Serious answers only please. Thank you.

For all the mommas out there whom are taking my question seriously...thank you! Not that I need to justify myself but let me specify my usage of 'stress' for those that think I'm just worrying aimlessly.
I have been going through stress because of work (which I have cut down on), problems in my marriage (which I'm going to counseling for) and a death in my family. Now, please answer my question without picking at the word 'stress'. Besides, a mother is supposed to be concerned about her child.

I was pregnant and one day my fiancee stood me up for a date, stopped talking to me, unplugged the answering machine. We were house shopping and so I had quit my job and was living with all my stuff in boxes in my mom's basement until we had a house... on top of it, I had such bad depression with anxiet my whole lifetime, that I hadn't worked full time in 4 years, and now I had to raise a baby, find a place and somehow find the money to buy baby stuff. I ended up selling my truck for a thousand dollars and bought all my baby stuff at garage sales. I lived with my mom.. when the baby was 3 weeks old, I got subsizdized housing. but since I didn't work in my pregnancy I had 0 maternity leave! So I tried running a day home in my crappy neighborhood and lived off of $800 a month with no subsizy expect the housing... and no child support. I was scared to go to court for child support because my ex's dad said that if I asked for child support they would have a DNA test and if it was his baby, they would take it and raise it! I was so stressed and I was already depressed and had anxiety before I was pregnant. I was on medication for all this stuff... and you know what... It was all ok. The pregnancy went well. Towards the end, I had problems with my blood and blood pressure and they quick induced. I had a beatiful baby girl 2 weeks early. She was grumpy for the first while. She was sleepy as I breast feed and was still on medication... but she was natually a good sleeper anyway... looking back I wonder if she was so grumpy and crying because I was so anxious... But that doesn't matter, she is not anxious now. She is 7 and happy and healthy... People say, 'DONT' STRESS'... you know what.. when you are pregnant life still happens, so quit preaching. Stress happens. You have cut back at your work. Good for you.. you are doing all you can to manage your stress.. and life has a way of working out. My daughter is now 7 and I am off all medication.. working full time... raising my daughter very well on no child support (I did get some for awhile and so he started working under the table)... and we are happy.. and she was not premature.. Relax... do some yoga... read... stay relaxed, if possilbe.. but life still happens.. and your baby will be fine.. and so will you.. because life keeps going on.

i understand exactly what you are going through...i went through the same not too long ago...i am 38 weeks pregnant and have had stress about 3/4 of my pregnancy...or maybe even more...you just need to calm down and relax...take a bubble bath...play some calming music...read...what ever keeps your mind off the stress. if your baby comes early they have so much technology now that your baby had a 99% chance of living at 5 months. but it is a very good thing your baby is moving lots. stress will usually cause the baby to decrease in movement. i wouldnt be worried at all..as i thought the same thing. good luck with your little one and email me if you like

My little one was extremely active from early on and he turned out to be a week overdue. It also depends on when your body is ready not just him, don't worry momma if your doctor says everything is fine then most likely you will carry full term. Just lower the stress in your life if possible (I know thats hard I had a stressful pregnancy myself) and relax things will happen when they do....and dont listen to everyone according to one woman I worked with while pregnant my son was supposed to have a watermelon shaped birthmark and he hasnt got any! There are tons of beliefs out there and those proven by science are the best to think of while pregnant otherwise youll worry yourself crazy.

Stop worrying..that is your biggest problem. There is no sure way to know when the little person will arrive on his own. A lot of movement at 5 months is awesome. Enjoy it! that is a good sign of a healthy active baby. My son just about killed me with the rib shots and the stretching and I loved every minute of it. Your biggest problem right now is stressing. The baby will be fine! relax and rest!

I don't think it'll be premature, but one never knows. The activity level of a baby doesn't determine when it's born. And some stress won't hurt the baby. My dh left for boot camp when I was 19 weeks and the baby I was pregnant with is perfectly fine and was born full term.
You've just got an active little one, my first was very active and was 1 week overdue.

I had all 4 of my children prematurely. I did have some stress which was probably related. My lowest birth weight was 2lbs. 13 oz & my biggest was 4lbs. 12 oz.
The doctors had me take it easy. They had me work on reducing stress, no strenuous activity, eat healthy, no smoking. So, try to relax. Do not let things worry you.
With medical advancements & technology the doctors should be able to take good care of you.
All 4 of mine are healthy, no problems that resulted from premature birth

My daughter moved around quite a bit when i was pregnant but did not make her appearance until I was 37 weeks. I did have a c-section though, so I do not know how long she would have stayed in there left to her own devices. As long you don't have any known risk factors for delivering prematurely, you will probably go to term. Hope that helps you.

i was prengnat with twins, and they were extremely active, even at 4 months. so much that at 5 months they would wake me up! i had a lot of stress (the father got deployed when i was 3 months along, and was all alone living in our house around base.) so know what you mean. however, they ended up being 4 weeks premature, BUT twins are normally early, was told it was normal. so don't think you need to worry.
