I pulled my groin about a month and a half ago, and it still hasn't healed, i did this once before and it took 5 months to heal, that was my fault because everytime it started to feel better i would go do something like kick(i study martial arts) run, lift weights, etc. Well, i haven't done anything since i pulled it this time. But everytime it starts to feel better i hurt it again and then it will hurt for another few weeks, i work at a place where i have to lift things up all the time, i am trying to take it easy but i can't just not work. Also sometimes it starts to feel better and i'll make a suttle movement and it will hurt for awhile afterwards, what can i do to help make it heal quickly? I know i should get it checked out, but what else can i do?

While you are resting the painful area, use a cold compression wrap to remove all inflammation and stop pain. The frozen wrap should be used about 3 times a day. You can keep it on longer for the compression or wrap it with an elastic bandage.

There are minute tears to either muscles or tendons and they need time to heal. Each time you re-injure it, you are starting all over.

Once it appears healed, do gentle range of motion exercises and then start gradual strengthening exercises to build up the strength.

It's a difficult injury to heal as it is easily re-injured, so be cautious about movements that have potential to re-injure. Complete process can take several months.

Good Luck

Its like anything else on your body. Unless you give it time and rest... it won't heal.
Try anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen. This will also help with the pain/discomfort. Also try alternating between heat and cold. (remember to wrap ice packs in a towel first so you don't freeze your skin). But you must be cautious as this will also make you feel like you can do other things like sports and other physical activities you shouldn't do because it "masks" the pain.
If you can find a way to take a few days off work (sick leave or vacation) that is your best option. Good old fashioned R & R.

it's a really good idea to take it as easy as possible on your groin. you probably realize by now you use those muscle groups more often than you thought.

one thing you can try at home is doing stretches everyday. there are several good stretches that you can do on the floor that you can search for on the internet. basically stretch out your groin as comfortably as it'll go then hold it...and just do that everyday. often with sports injuries and injuries to muscles or joints you lose flexibility, balance and power. by stretching it everyday you help gain some of that back and that will help prevent future injuries

wear a tight support - a swimming trunk should do. what you shouldnt do is to allow it to hang far down esp when you sleep or loll around in pajamas. rest for a couple of days will help. if you can elevate the leg end of your cot at night even slightly it will help.
