I have a natural repoire with animals, certain kinds in particular.. I feel I was born this way and those who know me have noticed and think the same.... It is especially strong with cats, dogs and wild birds... It's wierd, like I can make them trust me instantly... I think it is the strongest with wild birds, they are utterly fascinating to me and I have been able to walk right up to a wild chickadee and coax it to perch on my hand, no food, out in the middle of the bush I just walked up and put out my hand, the bird got on and let me stroke its feathers and hold him up to my face to look in his eye before he fluttered off. This kind of thing happens alot to me, and I never feed the birds, but they let me walk right up to them and sometimes touch them and they never act scared, its like they ignore me because they know im not a threat.... Does anyone else have a gift with animals like that?? Do you think people are born that way or is it just personality??

Well I think that I have always had a love for nature. For as long as I remember I have always loved being outside, flipping stones and logs to see what kinds of critters reside under them.

I have been told that I must have some gift, this was by my peers on several occasions. If I saw a spider that I liked, regardless of size i would simply pick it up and hold it, people were amazed that i was never bitten, but I never had a fear of such things, and I think I do it in such a way that the spider/insect never feels threatened.....
Also I have never had a fear of creepy crawlies, so i think that attributes to people's surprise more than anything else....

My feeling is all people have a natural affinity for animals and nature in general as we have evolved up until very recent times to survive as other animals do, ie influenced by natural selection. However, modern living has beaten some of this natural affinity out of some people but the majority need, even crave some intimacy with nature, just look at the number of people that go off camping on long weekends.

I don't think u are anything special and i don't think u are born with it like some Dr Dolittle. I do however, believe that animals react to calmness, kindness and are psychic. They know instinctively how a person is going to react to them and act accordingly. Its about the animal, not u.

Look up some of Professor Temple Grandin's work, u may find it interesting

Yes. Human beings are a part of nature, but, the psychiatrist Carl Jung wrote that much of modern man's problems are caused by being "civilized" out of his instincts. We have lost touch with seeing ourselves as being part of nature.
