"This is America, We speak English and our currency is the U.S. dollar. I will no longer visit your restaurant due to your demonstrated inability to assimilate into the culture of this country," said one irate former customer in an e-mail sent to Pizza Patron on Monday morning.

That was a pathetic thing to say. It's just another payment option. And even if there was another motive to this, so what? Are native americans forced to live like us now? It's their culture, don't shove yours down on them. What does a political border have to do with determining what culture people want to live in?

Border, suspensa? So what, should we throw away people living near the border to the other side? Oh yes, the native americans have something to do with this. They're natives here, and we're not. Should they throw us back to Europe? The political border is not about containing cultures, it's about regulating order within a country. And no, nobody's demanding for someone to accept another culture. It's the restaurant's choice. There's a difference between what you said and a restaurant WILLINGLY offering a new kind of payment option. Sure, if it's not legal, then that's a valid reason. But the others you gave me are not.

Oh yeah, they Taco Belled the pizza, I know. Should've seen that one coming. Damn.

It has *EVERYTHING* to do with what culture people want to live in. The political border is also the cultural border. It's a big line that says "My practices, beliefs, and traditions are on this side, and yours are on that side." Otherwise, why even have the border? Why don't we all just live in one big happy country?
That'd be impossible.

Also, the line about "It's their culture, don't shove yours down on them" - um, if they're going to be living in our country, they had DAMN well better be adapting to our culture. I sure as SH*IT would not walk into a Mexican store and demand to buy a calendar that was printed with Sunday as the starting day instead of Monday.

It isn't just another payment option; it's greed at its worst. It's someone saying, "In what way can we completely squeeze the last ever-loving cent out of someone?" It isn't like it's a necessary service, like a utility or public works. It's a freaking pizza restaurant. The peso is not a valid form of currency in the U.S., and a store shouldn't take them just to make it easier on the Hispanic community. I could see, maybe, if there were a small section of a large city that did this (something like Chinatown), but I think it would have to be a little bit more controlled than just letting the stores set their own exchange rate.

And also, what does being a Native American have to do with it? This isn't about Native Americans.

ETA: We've already assimilated pizza, thank you very much. Food items don't have a lot to do with culture, except inasmuch as they're a reflection of the economy of a country, which is tied to its culture (and also to its geography, which also has influences on a country's cuisine.)

I believe that as long as we are in the United States of America, all government buildings, signs, and hospitals should all be english only. However, private companies should have the freedom of speech, and that includes doing whatever they see is right. If a business only caters to immigrants, I'll take my money elsewhere.

Because someone said something doesn't make it pathetic. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from offense. It's about time somebody spoke up.

Interesting. I've additionally spotted that my violation appeals have a tendency to paintings if I suck as much as the christian point of view ie. pronouncing the query used to be legitimate on the grounds that it acquired a few severe solutions, many from Christians who gave well biblical views to the query. (keep in mind that, this most effective works if there quite have been such solutions).
