Yes, there are always jobs for artists and graphic designers. You might want to study a little English, too. If you like doing artwork go for it. Don't let someone stomp on your dream, man. It will only make you bitter later. Life is too short to play it safe. Believe me, I know.

I have family and friends that are in the graphic design field. So, yes, this is a field that's always growing and you can have a future in it.
The best thing to do is go to an art trade school or an art focused college, try for a scholarship.
If I were you, I'd talk to a career counselor about the best way to approach a trade art school.
The field, like any other creative field, is competitve. But like anything else, if you work hard at it you can break into it. Persistance is the key.
It sounds more like you're interested in graphic design - most print, newspapers esp. use the skills of graphic designers.
Above all you should find out your true passion - because even the things you love the most do become "jobs" and this can't be helped.

If you love it, chase it. There is lots of work in the art field and you are looking at possibly the most lucrative of them all. Why don't you make some trips to the kind of places you would like to work and ask them if someone would let you interview them, job shadow, or just answer a few questions for you? People love talking about their work. Take advantage of that, and people are impressed by a young person being interested enough to take an extra step and ask for information from those actually working in that field. You might end up with a mentor, or at least a few friends that you can call if you need answers later on.
If you love it, pursue the heck out of it! But mostly, have fun with it.

The art field is becoming more demanding daily. This is a good
choice. When you complete your field. Start right at the top of
major advertising companies. Hint- major printing companies
employ more artist and digital artist than anyone. Here is a lead
for you. Quad Grphics in Oklahoma City, has probably 1 million
square feet of production space and does all types of art and grphics. They distribute world wide. Try them out some day.
All there facilities are new.

well I would suggest going for a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) rather then just a BA, you get more credibility in the art world.
