To set up wireless internet is quite simple.
Fisrt buy a wireless router, this one is decent(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124190) of course there are cheaper ones.
Once you buy that conncet it to your Verizon router box and turn it on. Now if your ibook comes with wireless ready internet stop reading. But if it does not then you would need to buy a card for your ibook. I am mot familiar with ibooks but this is a decent one to buy,(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833150006)
After you install that you should be ready.

Setting internet up depends on whether it is dial-up or brodband. It's a matter of entering a username/password and getting verizon's service. You can get wireless internet by buying a wireless router and adapter. Verizon should work for Mac computers.

Personal opinion: I don't think this is anything we ordinary users ought to attempt to do. We have three computers here which had to be connected to cable and wireless network. We paid a pro to come to the house and do it.

Any ISP will work with your MAC, It just depends on what router you use to connect to it.
