There are no mandatory paid holidays. It's at the discretion of the employer. Best bet: Find a job with an employer who gives a damn.

W2 just means you pay taxes and nothing more. Except for municipal employees like those working for the State, Feds, city or county, there is NO guarantee you will get paid for the holiday. Be happy you got paid for Xmas. And, I expect you probably will be paid for New Year's.

Sounds like you are a part time employee and therefore have limits to no benefits. Benefits include paid holidays, paid sick leave, paid vacation. Overtime is a Federal thing compared to paid holidays.

What do you mean by W-2 employee? If you mean that you had to fill out a W-2 to work at your job, you wouldn't be alone as everyone in this country fills out a W-2 for employment. It would be up to your employer and your arrangement with that employer whether you get paid holidays or not.

W-2 employee??? sorry but I had to ask. I wasn't going to post anything here at all but I can't believe how many of you don't have a clue. first off you don't fill out a W-2 form...EVER. that is the little form that you get from your employer at the beggining of each your to file your taxes. they fill that one out folks. YOU fill out a W-4 form. wich is a statement of tax status or exempt status, such as full time students. you claim dependents and marital status on that one too.

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself with the corrections here.

now as for paid holidays, they are a benefit, you get paid for them if your employer chooses to pay you, unless you actually work on a federal holiday, in which case you get paid time and a half for working that day, but that is a federal labor law. states may have their own little holidays as well.
