How did you find out about me? For centuries I have walked among you, studying, and mimicking your daily ways. My elusiveness seems to have diminished! Anyway, my name is Xam and I came from a planet similar to what you call Earth, Encyen, located lightyears from the direction of the constellation Taurus. I have come to the conclusion that this planet is hostile and should be invaded immediately to start the realignment program. This program, once complete, will enable all humans to coexist without conflict. However, my means of communication with Encyen has long since vanished and hope that one day I will be joined by fellow Encyens to see this through. I must now depart to reblend myself into my secret existence.

I will assume that aliens would come to Earth for the same reason as the original explorers came to the New World. Quest for knowledge, but mostly to find things that would make them or their countries rich.
