Valve gaskets and head gaskets are entirely different beasts; different construction, material, etc.. Do NOT use any after-market sealants as they tend to clog up other parts of the engine and radiator and you will experience problems with localized hot spots that will eventually cause your engine or radiator or both to fail. Find a local shop that you can trust. Replacing head gasket isn't difficult but if not done correctly will cause nothing but headaches down the road. Local car clubs, hot rodders, etc. usually know the best (and reasonable) mechanics. Good luck.

a blown head gasket will leak anti-freeze either into the cylinders or to the out side of the engine. a valve gasket is on the head and keeps oil from leaking into the cylinders

you mustn'tchronic with any leak. you will possibly desire to locate and fasten the leak. in case you could not locate the different source of leak, then a head gasket is the final motel. yet you could tell extra helpful with a cooling device tension attempt. in case you retain over heating the automobile to the element there is not sufficient water for the heater to artwork, then you definately will blow the pinnacle gasket. that's barely a remember of time.
