Hi
I have 1997 dodge 3500 with a cummins turbo diesel 5 speed stardard. I found a 1996 computer for a 2500 dodge cummins with a 5 speed stardard tranny. Is there any one who could tell me if I could use the 2500 computer?

Thanks.

Yes--- they are the same part number, fuel systems are a vp44 electronic fuel pump. but, you are going to have to get the computer recalibrate or flashed. The calibration for the 1997 has a higher horsepower calibration. The engine doesn't care if it is a 2500 (3/4 ton) or 3500 (one ton). both use a single 50 pin plug in. The computer can be recalibrated on or off the engine at most Cummins or dodge shops.

i own a repair shop, and you have to match the computer numbers up perfectly on it,,i mean they cant be one number off ,and then you have to also match the chip also,,if all the numbers match,,then it will work,..if just one number is off its not going to work,,it might run the truck,,but not very well,,its true they did use some computers for a long time,,but these numbers have to match right down to the last one,,then it will work,,good luck hope this help,s
