I am a kinda a freaking liberal, who is always aware of mad cow, GMO, Dioxyine, environmental hormone, growth hormone and stuff.

Especially for mad cow, since I know how does it affect me, I have not eaten beef for almost 2 years.

Every time I go to Outback with my girl friend, she always gets steak on purpose to seduce me to eat beef. Making slenty eyes and enjoying that butter labeled, GMO, growth hormone, fat carb rump freaks me out.

Is beef really that good? I can't recall the taste of it.

Kudos to you for not eating beef for 2 whole years! I totally understand why you wouldn't want to eat it, with all the risks and nasty stuff they pump into it. And now, to top it all off, we're more than likely going to have cloned meat in our grocery stores and restaurants! - YUM! (gross!)

I, personally, do eat beef but hate myself for not having the willpower to avoid meat in general. I hope someday I'll get the willpower to stay away from GE foods and risky meats. If the cloned meat makes it through though, there's no way I'm going to eat that crap or feed it to my daughter.

Anywho...to be honest, you're really not missing much at all. It is very rare that I go to a restaurant and get a good piece of meat anymore. I mean, yeah, sometimes a good burger or a good steak (which, as I said, is rare anymore), can hit the spot but I certainly wouldn't die without it.

So no...you're not missing anything by not eating it....except the health risks associated with it. ;-)

Smells great, tastes great!! Unfortunately, it's so hard to get a steak here in Philippines. Main thing is that the butchers have NO idea on how to cut meat. They just reach over and slice off a piece, and if they didn't slice enough (by weight) they cut a piece more, and that's it. You wind up with some piece cut at an angle to the grain, and that's your "steak". the other problem is that what they call steak here is small pieces of meat with gravy.

What I wouldn't give for NY or KC steak done Pitsburgh rare =.(

Wow, no beef for 2 years! Your chances of contracting mad cow through meat you have eaten is slim to none and I believe your over analyzing the problem. I say life is too short and Bon Appetite! Just make sure the steak is well done and live your life!
PS Beef is just as mouth watering now as it was 2 years ago!!!!

I've never liked beef, even as a child. In my opinion, it smells horrible to me raw and while cooking.

I hate to mention this but I also hate to go into the bathroom behind someone who has eaten the stuff---they reallly really stink. I heard that the high protein content of beef makes horrible smells.

Like you, I think of all the health issues as well (heart disease, harden arteries, etc.) but that came later. I just don't like the taste of beef and feel the same about pork.
