Personally I think it is a corporation somewhere in the United States most likely democratic in persuasion and their objective is to brainwash anyone who watches it. Many can't see the subtlties but did you ever notice how all the same stories run on different channels and even at the same time? Every form of media has a type of brainwashing. Some are less obvious than other and if you aren't paying attention you'll have it done to you. The fact that so many have never even considered the news to be influenced by those in power just shows how well they are getting across the ideas they want.

The individual networks run the stories that they think will get the highest ratings since ratings equal advertising dollars. These are generally the stories with the most blood and gore or scandal. I don't think any one owns the news just the outlets that publish or air it. Generally every news outlet is involved in reporting any big breaking news story.
