what iam saying seems sensible to me, we go to a site and we pick up cookies which stick with us and monitor our travels over the internet and what we are interested in and then report back to where they came from, well what stops the anti-spyware program owners from sending out spyware to infect a system, and thus promote business?this must be happening so how are we to protect ourselves?every anti-spyware and anti-virus program has to be updated. i notice that for a customer to get a anti-virus thats any good,it costs money and then they are comprimised anyway,it seems. iam still a novice computer user but this is what it seems to me. ive had a computer since may,2005 ,ive been reformatted 3 times and week after week i have to go to the tech reps to straighten out the spyware created problems.is it like this for every body?

you wouldn't have to repair your computer so often if you have an antipyware and antivirus both. they work in different ways and they remove different things. what i'm trying to say is that antivirus can't deal with spyware/adware/etc and antispyware is useless for virus removal.

what about the other part of your question, believe me, it's not useful for antispyware companies to make spyware. spyware/adware manufacturers try to fool people and make them buy their stuff. let's say 100 computers get infected, and owners of 5 computers get's fooled and buy some stuff. as spyware spreads very fast much more then 100 pcs get infected. that's how spyware makers make money.

and the opposite side - antispyware manufacturers spend much money to find the way to remove certain computer parasite. it may take days and weeks and a bunch of people to find a solution on how to locate and delete a spyware/adware.

when you say that antispyware companies make computer parasites, so they can be sure they have customers, you must be talking about corrupted antispyware companies such as spyware quake or more recent antivermins:

both these spyware infect a computer and tells you to buy their software which is actually useless.

There are anti-spyware programs that are bogus, but also good ones. Get Spybot Search and Destroy. It does a very good job.

You're a bit misinformed about cookies. A cookie is just a small text file in your computer. When you go to a website it asks your computer if it has a file for that site. If you allowed one to be written, then your computer lets the site read it and your user info is available to that site.
It does NOT monitor your travels and report back. It's a file, not a program.

Spyware is different from viruses and worms. Because Spyware is written for a perticular purpose like hacking the passwords and recording keystrokes etc.

Whereas worms and virus are different there main purpose will be spreading and dropping files.

A bit paranoid are we not?

Your idea that the anti-malware vendors produce viruses and other malware to create customers for there products in one of the oldest "urban legends" in existence. An old "wives-tale" if you will!

I suppose that you also believe that Doctors create diseases so they can charge people to cure them?

I suppose that you also believe that Tow Truck Drivers create car accidents so that they can charge people to tow the wreak away?

I suppose that you also believe that Fire Fighters light buildings on fire so they can "promote business"?

Your thesis is complete nonsense and IMHO your excessive malware problem is a classic case of PEBKAC. Google it!

You are correct. I go for system restore when evrer an error occurs. It is working. But added new rograms will get undone by this operation.Better to keep backups before system restore. You can try to restore the computer to an older working configuration. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
