I think it's a very real and human trait to act a certain way in front of certain people, rather than to act true to how we really are. That's part of becoming a human, to deny our animal nature, and behave in a certain way because society rewards it.

No. Even a person who is phony part of the time would not be phony 25% of their life. Depending on how carefully you define phony, 1 out of 4 are not phony.

If you say that any person who ever misleads is a phony then 90% are phony by that definition.

Phony I presume you mean is when a person presents themselves consistently to be something they are not.

I'd say it's a lot more than that. But I think it's situationally dependent. For instance, I put on a very nice mask while I'm at the job I hate. Every time I let little comments go (the real me), my boss looks at me like she thinks hiring me was a major mistake. (She's probably right.)

At home, I'm me. That's about the only place it happens.

everyone is phony in their own way. you will learn this as you grow older, unless you are already old, then you should know this already

I try to make it obvious when I'm not giving a straight answer, but sometimes sarcasm is just beyond some people's ability to comprehend, so in my case yes, but not intentionally.
