I am a guy and I can always tell if another guy is attractive or not, but I am not sexually attracted to them. When I tell other people about this, they think I am gay or bisexual. Does anyone else have this ability, cause it seems like other guys can't do this or just don't feel comfortable talking about it.

All straight guys recognize handsome men, they just are too insecure to admit it. Straight women will comment on other pretty women because they are more free from the ridicule men give each other if one guy commented on the positive physical attributes of another guy.
Think about it though...your out with your buddies and a hot guy walks by, you notice and comment, "what a hot guy"...your friends think your gay. You try to explain yourself and then they think your in the closet.
Two choices: Be a man and stand your ground or be a wimp like they are and pretend all men are ugly.
It is OK to notice the physical beauty of another "human being". You can even kiss one if you want. It's very hot to kiss another guy, especially one with a beard!!!

I would not exactally say that some guy is attractive, if you don't want to hear all the flack. Just point out something." Man wish I had his hair". or, wonder how many days he works out? Just generic comments. I am female and we go around saying " I wish I had a body like her, or we do say things to their face like you smell really good, usually these are to people we know, not strangers, or we will get some unwanted comments or attention.
I also don't see this as an ability, this is just plain human observation.

You'll always find people who jump to the conclusion that that makes you gay etc. But the truth of it is that even if you were sexually attracted to men on occaison but never had any desire to act on it you would still probably be straight.

Regardless of your sexual orientation it's perfectly normal to appreciate and/or notice attractiveness in the other or the same gender.

Cheers,

Guys don't feel comfortable talking about another guy's looks. It creeps them out. And many guys couldn't care less--they like to play sports or be interested in non-appearance activities.

I know what you mean though, just find a gay guy to compare notes with, he'll accept that it's part of your personality, tell him you're straight, he'll accept that too, if you accept him as he is.

i do the same thing with women. if i think someone is attractive i will look that does not mean you are sexually attracted to them. they may be wearing something that you wish you could look as good in or have something about them that you wish you had. i see a lot of attractive your ladies out their but notinterested in them for anything but friendship i am attracted to men & also know the difference if a man says he is straight i don't push the issue with him either. i guess thats why all my friends & work colleges accept me more than others.

it doesnt mean you are gay or bi or whatever, but you do need to keep your ability low profile. If a girl that you are friends with asks you about a guy that she hasnt seen then its ok to say yeah he's pretty good looking nice green eyes, tan, athletic, etc. , but if you are sitting around with a girl and you are both talking about a guy each of you have seen this is a no no.

My husband can tell if another man is attractive or not (we don't always have the same taste!)...but that doesn't mean he wants to sleep with them! I have plenty of male friends who feel the same way. I think it just means that you are comfortable enough with your sexuality to admit it. Big ups.

LOL.

The ability to detect whether a face is symmetrical or not (the usual definition of beauty and handsome) has NOTHING to do with sexuality. WHY do you think so many gay men work in women's make-up, hair and fashion? Its not for the WOMEN. It is because we appreciate beauty though!
