I'm currently in first year university, Civil Engineering, for that matter. It was extremely frustrating with not much help from the faculty and I ended up failed my first term and it really forced my to analyze what I decisions I've been making up to this moment.

Being in an Asian family, my parent starting drowning me in studies and tutors and what not when I was a kid and I ended up accepting getting good grades as the most important thing I could achieve. It was now that I finally realize that what I have been doing was wrong and that I ended up sacrificing a lot of friends and memories I could of had for grades.

I wish to regain some time to experience life but I'm having trouble deciding because now that I'm in university, I have almost no time. What should I do with my time now?

The answer is not one or the other , it is balance. An education is important, but so is your life and having a life while you are in school. Look at your credit load. Take the minimum credits for a full college load, or get a job and go to school part time. Find groups and organizations in the school that you might want to belong to so you are with people. You would regret quitting college but you already regret not having social memories. Find a way to do both without sacrificing the other.

OK u seem to be cursing ur self for ur past mistakes.....STOP that.
Forget ur past simply because u can do nothin about it.
Concentrate about ur present....Its hard but do it.
First of all do concentrate on ur studies...dont ignore it.
Education is the most important thing in ur life...& since ur already in university u have no other choice but to achieve.
This does'nt mean u have to be away from ur friends & relatives.
I am an engineering student tooo. I can manage to balance my studies & my outing with friends. Its no big deal.
I hang out with my friends a lot & still am able to get average marks....if i can do it then u can certainly do it.
All the best for ur future & have fun.

Go to the career center for some direction, talk to your teachers to get some mentoring.

Find a club or sport that allows you to balance your life and discover an overlooked passion.

As Joseph Campbell suggested, "Follow your bliss."

Watch Joseph Campbell's videos with Bill Moyers.

i got through college without doing much of anything. you have to find a balance; in your case you need to play more as opposed to most people who have to try and study more.
