yes I do remember the Vietnam draft...watching the newspaper to see if my brothers numbers came up.

Nothing would surprise me and I am skeptical of motives and media manipulation.

Nope...

No way, the draft is not a Republican agenda item.
I have no idea why some democrats want it either. I think the whole issue of the draft is an attempt to muddy the waters about Iraq anyway.
Let's be honest, things are going great there, but they weren't before we were there either. Put another fascist dictator in place, start secret police and you'll have order pronto!

He would be crazy to do that, but nothing surprises me anymore. I don't know where he will get that many without a draft. The troops are spread out around the world, so there is no way you would put all of them in one place without creating problems elsewhere in the world.

Does anybody remember the draft in Vietnam era?. I do.Fellas like me or younger, were running to the Mexican and Canadian border.Panic, was the name of the game.Run or get kill in Nam ( wit out a reason.Nam has not a reason). So, I think the same might happen again.Think about it.Young people have to put their necks for what?.Oil,perhaps.I hope the draft is only cheap talk.

No, I don't think the draft would be necessary. If we were in a full scale war perhaps with North Korea, then maybe the draft would be alluded.

No, the draft is something that neither side wants. There is no need for a draft anyways. We have enough troops to add 20K temporarily. This would have to be right before we bring home about 50K though, or it won't be possiible. (Read between the lines on that)

Since when does Bush have a clue about anything. There's a general formula that is used to legitimize the ratio of troops per person in order to be effective making this latest plan 340,000 short of the necessary force to obtain control over an 18 month period. Bush's rationale is absurd by all accounts.

I'd love to see him even hint at the prospect for a draft for the wake up call it will give to America's disinterested youth.

Why would you think we need the draft when there are over 2 million troops?? And the democrats know that if they refuse money for the war, they are in short not supporting the troops. Which is their own political suicide. Of course that is a good thing really....

no. they will offer huge incentives to the current military staff...or offer huge enlistment bonuses. plus, they have the reserves & national guard to draw on....( i have a great idea) Why not take all the illegal aliens coming in from mexico for one week, and we would have 50,000 we could send...they'd be happy, cause they would be eating good, have a nice job. and when the tour is over, give them the green card!!!!!!!!!!! then everyone is happy right?

Not unless he wants too get every other Republican defeated in 2008!

Bush has a strategy? Is it his exit strategy he never had?

Bush isn't getting 20,000 more troops! He has already gotten too many killed!
