Just wondering if the symptoms of a yeast infection during pregnancy are the same as when you're not pregnant. I see the OB/GYN tomorrow afternoon; does anyone know if you can take Diflucan or do you have to creams like Monistat?

Sorry to hear that you are going through this because YI suck! However, they are very common during pregnancy. In pregnancy women have more bacteria that is produce down there. Also, if you are taking any antibiotics it sometimes kills the good bacteria and the bad bacteria will take over causing a YI. The symptoms are the same during pregnancy as when you're not pregnant. Monistat 7 is supposed to be good but only on the labias outside of the vagina. You should not insert any creams inside of you while pregnant unless advised by your doctor. I would just recommend waiting until you see your OB tomorrow. Just take a nice bath or shower and air dry down there. Don't wear panties to bed to allow it to breathe. Some people also blow dry the area with the blow dryer down by their knees and the warm air on. Hope this helps. A lot of this information was retrieved from babycenter.com. I'm five months pregnant, I know what you're going through. Good luck!

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Yeast infection syptoms are the same & are super easy to get during pregnency they even tend to be worse! My OB has always prescribed Diflucan & a external vaginal cream (not suppository or internal creams) but all OBs are diifrent, you can call the service & page the on call the will usually call a presrption into the pharmacy if it is bad until they can see you! No hot or warm baths as it makes the yeast infection worse & wash panties 3 to 4 times as yeast is very persistant!

DO NOT take any OTC medicines! Just deal with it for another day till you see your doctor. You could take a hot hot shower, as hot as you can stand, and spray it on your cooter, the heat will make all the itchy happen at once and then you won't itch for a few hours after. This works for pretty much any persistant itch, actually.

You can Not take Diflucan while pregnant but Monistat is ok. I asked my doctor and that is what I was told. They have not done enough research when it comes to Diflucan and pregnant women.

I had one in the first trimester and basically the sympyoms are the same. You cannot!! take the pill but you can use the creams, they reccomend that you dont insert it all the way up to the cervix though. Good luck!
