Oh !
We are used to consulting a doctor for Cure of disease, not for improving health !
An ancient eastern illiterate saint wrote a humble couplet to afford easy understanding to humble people around him....
" Everybody remembers (prays) in sorrow, none does it (prays)when happy,
And if anyone chooses to remembers(pray) when happy, why at all should there be sorrow ! "

thts not always true v do pray in happiness also 2 thank the Almighty 4 wht he has given yes but in sorrow out helplessness makes us pray n beg n in happiness our limitless happiness makes us thank a million times so v do actually pray in both sorrows n happiness but its just tht majority tend to pray more in sorrow than in happiness well i do in both n always do depends on person 2 person though.

I pray in gratitude each day the sun shines, the wind blows, or upon taking a deep cleansing breath of air. God knows your happiness and sorrow and you can share your life with Him on a daily basis, good or bad.

Great question. I was brought up heavy duty Catholic. Nuns, Benedictine Monks. Many years later I have found a profound change in attitude. I have gotten to know a number of Benedictine Monks who could not be the most gracious, friendly people you would want to know. They celebrate what is good in life.

Who are "We"? Prayer is stopping to connect to our Higher Power, which is always right next to us. Being grateful is a feeling I have which lets God know I like what he has provided!
So, for me, prayer, or "God Connecting", is more done in Happiness, and thanks, rather than the "Hoping for some Divine reprieve", when my mindtrys to convince me something is 'wrong'.
