November 6 1975- Female Host: Candice Bergen with musical guest Esther Phillips.
First Host Ever: George Carlin with musical guest Janis Ian and Billy Preston- October 11 1975.

? OK, I'll accept someone else's Candace Bergen answer rather than look it up, but someone else had that one first.
Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtin, Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi were the originals, but Buck Henry was there a lot. John Belushi, not Jim. Jim was added as a secondary character later. Steve Martin was also a regular, but was not one of the not-ready for prime time players.
