"Parsec" is a shortening of parallax second, and it equates to a distance of 3.2616 light years. Given that the nearest star is more than 4 light years away, even the closest stars have a parallax of less than 1 arc second.

It's closer than that. Proxima Centauri, part of the Alpha Centauri star system, is the nearest star to our Sun, 4.22 light years away. (4.22 light years is approximately 1.295 parsecs).
