A level two ultrasound is awesome! It is usually done abotu 20 weeks. They look at all aspects of the baby...bones, organs, brain, etc. This is the time when you are able to find out the sex of the baby if you want to (as long as the baby is cooperating).
These ultrasounds usually take abotu 45 minutes because of all of the pictures/images they take. You will usually get 4 pictures of the baby as well....typically the feet, a body profile (where you can see his whole body and spine), a facial profile, the gender, and sometimes the hands. They also determine where your placenta is lying, and how 'healthy' your umbilical cord is. They are abel to tell if there are any physical defects in the baby as far as bone structure and oragsn go.
This is the most indepth ultrasound that you will get unless you have complications that involve looking further into something.
It is sooooo cool to have done...you get to see everythgin on the screen and if you ask the doc/tech doign it, they will explain exactly what they are looking at t you.
Good luck, and congrats! Enjoy!

i will enable you comprehend from experience and study that a point 2 ultrasound refers back to the certainty which you're having the ultrasound to assessment for the infant for abnormalities. They do those *robotically* at 20 weeks or which you will make useful all the organs and physique aspects look good. It has no longer something to do with no remember if or no longer they think something is incorrect with your infant. I easily am no longer considered in any respect in all hazard to be "extreme possibility" (i'm youthful, and there are not any issues with pregnancies in my kinfolk historic previous and my being pregnant has been perfect), and that i had a point 2. in case you look it up on google, you will probable locate issues that say that time 2 is a united statesto assessment the anatomy -- that's what i got here across. It probable isn't genuine that each and every united statesround 20 weeks is a point 2, because of the fact each and every so often people have seperate united statesto make certain the gender (like maybe if the infant did no longer cooperate and practice its gender in the process the reg. 20 week u/s). in the event that they are merely searching for the gender, then it does not be considered point 2, regardless of gestational age. i do no longer comprehend your subject so i'm no longer attempting to enable you comprehend that there is particularly no longer something incorrect. i'm merely asserting that the full point 2 ingredient isn't a reason to agonize in itself.

Level II Ultrasound:Differential diagnosis of fetal structural abnormalities found on ultrasound.
It simply means that either they saw something they want a better look at in a regular ultrasound or you have a medical condition that could affect the baby and they want to take a closer look. It is not a bad thing even though it sounds that way. It is just like an x-ray would show the bones and an MRI would show everything else. A level 2 is just a better quality picture.

A level 2 ultrasound is a much more thorough exam using much
more sophisticated equipment. This exam is often recommended for high risk pregnancy.
