can you tell me what's the answer or tell me how to solve the problem???
As a hurricane increase in intensity, the air pressure within it's eye decreases. In a category 5 harricane, which is the most intense, the air pressure is about 27.16 inches of mercury. In a category 1 hurricane, which is least intense, the air pressure is about 1.066 times that of a Category 5 hurricane. What is the air pressure within the eye of a category 1 hurricane? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

Ant other word problem. Students don't realize it, but in the real world most of the math problems you have to solve are word problems.

1. Find the known data and the question.
2. Build a formula
3. Check your answer.

Category 5 hurricane = air pressure of 27.16
Category 1 hurricane = ?
Category 5 hurricane = 1.066 X Category 5 air pressure.

Now assign the variables;
Air Pressure at Cat 5 hurricane = 27.16
Air Pressure at Cat 1 hurricane = H
Therefore:
Air pressure in Cat 1 hurricane = X = 5 times Air pressure in Cat 5 hurricane
So: H = 27.16 x 1.066 = 28.95

Check your answer;
a Cat 5 Hurricane is 27.16
a Cat 1 Hurricane = has 1.066 times more pressure.

Now look if the answer makes sense. A Cat 5 Hurricane has an air pressure of 27.16 which is only a little bit lower than 28.95. That makes sense since the difference is only 0.066 more.

what they want to know is the air pressure of a catagory 1 hurricane. they state that the air pressure in a catagory one hurricane is about 1.066 times stronger than the air pressure in the cat.5, so to find the answer you would have to multiply the air pressure of the cat.1 by the air pressure of the cat.5 which is
27.16 x 1.066=???? then round to the nearest hundredth and that is your answer. I hope this helped good luck
