That is EXTREMELY hard on your blocker rings in the transmission no matter HOW WELL each shift is executed!!! I would rather replace a clutch assembly than to have to replace the blocker rings and all other internal parts [synchro sleeve? shaft(s) etc.], and maybe even the transmission itself depending on the extent of wear!!!! The latter of the two scenarios is MUCH more costly!!!

I try to follow the rule of only doing clutchless upshifting when it will actually help such as on the track or canyon carving. I use the clutch all other times. No point wearing out the transmission faster than necessary and clutch plates are easy to change.

BAD__Depends on if it's a non or synchronized transmission on how bad. Shifting on large semi-tractors is done all the time. But, a bad shift can cause some gear damage that it can easily take. But a transmission in a auto can't take this abuse long, esp. to the synchros. It's not worth the cost--clutches can easily last 250,000 miles. why risk it.

it can hurt the tranny but in larger trucks like 3/4 or 1 ton its not as big as problem most big rigs only use the clutch when taking off and rev the engine up to match how fast the tranny is turning to keep it from grinding but its still wise to use the clutch a lot cheaper in the long run.

Depends on what you are driving. Most cars and pickup trucks have synchromesh transmissions and after the syncro ring engages you can't get it out of gear without using a clutch. If you're driving a Freightliner with a 13 speed RoadRanger it is perfectly all right to shift without the clutch.
It just takes practice to get it right.

Well just do it, but make sure they are there in a few months when they are rebuilding your gear box so you can see what it does. Why would you want to shift without the clutch?

What are you hopeing someone will tell you its good so you can blame your worn out blocker rings on someone else when you have to get a rebuild cause you have bent the shifter trying to get it into gear in about 6 months.
