Kobe. Go Lakers! Whether it's shooting, athletic ability. clutch, defense, mentally and pretty much overall, I think he's the best. He is also one of the most physically conditioned NBA player as well. But if you're talking about each position I'd go with: PG-Steve Nash, SG-Kobe Bryant, with forwards there's so many but I would go with SF-James/Garnett, PF-Duncan/Nowitzki/Brand/Boozer, C-Dwight Howard

THat is a very hard question to answer.
First of all, everybody has different opinions.
Secondly, you have to specify different positions, because you can't really compare a guard with a center.
Third, players aren't always consistent. THey might be very good in this game but not the next.

In my opinion, LeBron James is or is about to become the best player in the NBA.

However, Michael Jordan will always be remembered as the all time best player by most people.

Right now it gotta be Kobe Bryant. He brings things to the table that players like: Nash, Lebron, Carmelo, Wade, T-Mac, Arenas, etc. cant bring: Defense. Kobe excels at both ends of the court being a supreme defensive player(he's a 6 time all-defensive selection; 4 first team, 2 second team). Also he's the better all-around ofensive player of the bunch. He has the best jump shot between all the guards right now, and has the capability to drive to the rim whenever he wants. Plus he's the most clutch of the bunch(besides Carmelo, who is one of the best clutch shooters)... also Kobe has the "killer instict" that the other players lack. Right Now you got to go with Kobe.

Yeah Jeff is right it's really hard to answer that question due to position. Most of the time people say the best player is the biggest offensive weapon. That'd either have to be LeBron, AI, or Kobe, maybe D-Wade. Now as far as positions.

Here are my picks:
-Point Guard: Steve Nash (overall), Gilbert Arenas aka 'Agent Zero' (shooting)
-Shooting Guard: Richard 'Rip' Hamilton, A.I., or Kobe...it's debatable. They all three bring something different to the table.
-Strong/ Small Forward: Lebron James
-Power Forward: Dirk Nowitski (offense)
-Center: Amare Stoudemire (overall), Ben Wallace (pure defense)

There are some others that aren't bad, but I think those are the best. There aren't really any good quality defensive power forwards that I can think of.

That is super tough and it's really a close call. I would have to go with Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant, Yao Ming, Carmelo Anthony, or Lebron James. All 5 of those players have been putting up impressive numbers all season long and they can play team ball well to.

Shaq or Kobe? Those are the only 2 I know, and I don't really know much about the NBA nor do I follow it much. Or at all, really.

Michael Jordan rocked and also LeBron James is someone I hear a lot of people talking about!

The reigning 2 time MVP--and it seems easy to say Steve Nash is the best player in the league--and for a particular reason---He makes his team better and has the led his teams in the past 4 years to the highest scoring percentage in the league(Dallas--Phoenix)--Some may say he doesn't deserve the award and others may be more dominant and flashy--but at his position he is the best--more dominant at his position than any other superstar is at his---and the point guard in my opinion is one of the hardest to play--takes plenty of quick decision making and vast leadership qualities--he has great defensive ability--unreal crisp passing ability and one of the sharpest consistent shots in the league--he is also ultra clutch---now physically he may not have the flash when it comes to dunking or look the part of a star--but he is the best at making his teammates stars--he has a combo cousy-stockton groove to his style--he is not cocky and is down to earth--lots of good attributes--pound for pound in my opinion he is the best--glad to see that he was recognized by the league for his skill --TC Jay

For me the best sg of all time is jordan as of now. But im considering Kobe Bryant of the Lakers becoming the best. He's just 28 and he dominates teams. What i like about him is his confidence. He undertook a lot of problems like the rape case and being without shaq. He did all that to bring the lakers back to the play offs. and if the lakers go to the finals its all because of KObe

As of today I would have to say LeBron James. He has slowly taken the Cavaliers to the #1 seed in the east in a division that has Detroit and Chicago in it.

He is a solid leader at the age of 22. What will the league do with him in 3 years? They will be at his mercy.
