Great observation! You get my support!
There are a few theories...
First off, the most obvious explanation is that many users want their quick 2 points.
Many don't take Y! Q & A seriously either.
Many also think that everything is a joke. An obsession with humour.
Another theory...According to a study I read, when teens act/ speak/ write without considering the consequences (and when they engage in dangerous behaviour) - they do it - because they are biologically incapable of feeling empathy like an adult does.
It sounds simple, but it makes sense. Throw in the high hormonal factor, mix in a lack of life experience and couple this with the 'infantile myth of omnipotence' - and you have a recipe for behavioral disaster!
The infantile myth of omnipotence refers to babies. A baby can control its entire world around itself by simply crying. Of course, we know that this isn't true. A parent is the baby's real power!
Of course, my theory does not take into account the delinquent adults out there. Perhaps there are a disturbing number of immature adults out there! Creepy!

As to why people can be mean on here; there are as many answers to that question as to the number of people who read the questions.
Some people have a mean, sadistic streak in them; unfortunate, but true. That's the way of today's younger generation growing up.
It scares me to think they are the future leaders of America.
Even if the answer is not proper, some people are saying anything to bring up their point tally; isn't it something like two points for every answer, whether correct, or not?

I totally agree with you!!!!!!!!! Some people do not care about the content of your question, they just answer to get 2 points, that is selfish and rude. It is really inconsiderate when people treat your question as if it means nothing. There is no need for insults! People are entitled to their opinion, and we dont always have to agree; but you can agree to disagree; or put your point across in a courteous way. Ignore those who have no consideration for your feelings, they are not worth it!!! Value the people who take time to give you an honest and genuine answer. I cant understand those who are so impolite.....MANNERS COST NOTHING!!!!!!! I wish you all the best! :o) x

Just roll with it Roxy! This is a very safe place for those who didn't get hugged enough as children to come and let it all out on the innocent! All it is is venting and making silent noise about stuff that they know nothing about! You gotta take the good with bad. And you know the saying about opinions being like certain parts of our anatomy......we all got one!!
You know the answer that your looking for, and pick it from there. All else is horse feathers!! Just chill and have fun!!!

It's safe to vent and no body knows who they are.
Take it with a grain of salt..............
We are all guilty at some point.
I try to keep my cool, but there are those who get my goat.
There are just a lot of people who enjoy being vulgar or mean.
If this happens to you...Flag them. Maybe they will learn and
we will have a much better time on here.

I guess they don't have many opportunities to be mean with people who know them and that they meet face-to-face. So they save their nasty streak for strangers they find with problems on Yahoo. It is the dark side of human nature.

Because they're simply jealous that you have insight into such a beautiful and astounding question and that it never popped into their brains for one second before; and at that very instant they realized for a split second that the glamour of your brain fully surpasses theirs in an eternal sort of manner;
That, or they're bored and figure it's easier to be mean to strangers. :)

its because we cant expect everybody to understand what we really want to say, my dear....some of them wants to impress others by just merely answering the questions without analyzing it first; i really symphatize with you but, we cant do anything about it....there are really some people out there who doesnt have anything to do but to answer back philosophycally.
