In the original movie, yes he dies. He is killed when they lure him into the harbor and they set off the oxygen destroyer... I think you even see him get reduced to a fleshless skeleton.
But, that's what they did with all their first monster movies. They all come back (no explanation needed) for sequels. Rodan and its mate died in the volcanic eruption in the movie... Rodan later on is hanging out on Monster Island with everyone else.

If I remember correctly from being forced to watch every Godzilla movie known to man (my brother used to be obsessed, lol), I think he did die. Not 100% sure on that, though.

Those movie s are stupid. And how come their lips never match their words? How can you people watch that junk? The only reason I watched a couple is because I like asian girls, and Iwa s hoping there would be a sexy asian girl naked in them, but there wasn't. That sucekd.
